I mention my essay Barefoot in Bollingen and Dreaming. I published this in the days when you could put big images on Medium - so it looks lovely on a decent sized screen.
The ‘fish’ podcast I couldn’t remember the name of is No Such Thing As Fish. It’s done by the people who write QI. The episode where they talk about the pilgrimage is #321. It’s here on Spotify but they’re on most podcast platforms.
Here’s a few videos from the Pilgrimage that’ve been made since I wrote that essay;
Here’s a recent short retrospective by Adam Baker
Here’s a longer one from Adam from 2020
And finally here’s what I spent six months working on. (I mean it didn’t take me six months to write the stuff in the folder but it did take that long to sort what needed to be sorted to enable the writing to be written).
I make the point in my essay that one of the lessons of Tour Management is that once a tour is over no-one cares about the organisation of it - unless of course something has gone horribly wrong. In other words, if you do a good job (AND Gods are with you) your work is destined to be forgotten. So there is something quite sacrificial about it.
And fortunately, the Gods were very much with us on the Hardon2Hadron or Cerne2CERN Pilgrimage. Hail Eris!
