On the cusp of 2019 to 2020 I wrote and released a piece called Looking Back - A Prophecy. It’s been up on medium since 2020. I’ve just remixed it - done some tweaking of the writing and re-recorded the audio. It features Flinton Chalk’s Cairn T 111Hz that we’ve used to create CoB’s ritual soundscapes.
Listening is best done with ear phones and when you can give it a little concentration.
I understand some people prefer to read rather than listen. You can read the words of the 2024 remix here.
But I have to say I always intended Looking Back - A Prophecy to be heard rather than read. I feel its material presence - as sound - is integral to my intention with the piece.
Sleeve Notes
What I want to talk about in this post is the magic(k)al context.
Since, around 2015 I’ve framed my life and my CoB work within Meta Rituals. Looking Back - A Prophecy is the longest (covering a decade), largest and most ‘explicit’ Meta Ritual to date. By ‘explicit’ I mean that the Ritual’s meaning is spelled out clearly within it.
My Meta Rituals all work within a distinct time period. It could be a natural period - say summer to winter solstice. Or it could be manmade - six months, a year or a decade. Or it could be a time span from one event to another.
I cannot emphasise strongly enough that creating a Meta Ritual isn’t about ‘long-term planning’ or ‘goal-setting’.
These are rituals. Or, as I prefer, Rituals.
They need no purpose beyond that they are done.
A digression to explain the paywall that exists on this post for free subscribers…
My writing in CoB’s Creation Diary about how I do magic will, for the most part, go behind the paywall. There are often aspects to it - and especially to the Meta Rituals - that are private and intimate. I think you have to dig deep for magic.
I definitely think you should take out a paid subscription! :-) but do so only if you’re interested in the CoB project as a whole. You risk disappointment if you take out a paid subscription to learn about magic generally. Go to these guys instead;
oron here, or Dave Lee at Chaotopia or Cunning Cat Vincent.I simply do magic.
I forge my own path. I make no claim to esoteric expertise. I’m not a teacher or a guru. I’m not selling a course. I don’t adhere to any traditional system.
But I do believe that money and magic are interwoven.
I’ve a decent knowledge of work on the nature of money.
And so I f e e l my way into doing magic through my understanding of money. And that exploration is what I’ll happily share with you on the other side of this paywall.
