Thanks first and foremost to Sarah for being part of what was a magical day. Thanks to the Bishop of Ely for welcoming us into Holy Communion. And thanks to everyone who was at Ely Cathedral that beautiful morning. We didn’t look like your average early morning Cathedral goers but we were made to feel very welcome nonetheless. We both felt very privileged to be able to explore Ely Cathedral (and St John The Baptist Church at Barnack) in the morning sunshine.
The guitar music at the start of the video is Biddy Sullivan’s aptly named Tracing Memories and the classical piece at the end is Ardor by Christoffer Moe Ditlevsen and Karoliina Gabel. Both are licensed thru Epidemic Music. Thank you to CJ58 752310 £20 and BA34 104756 £10 for making the ultimate sacrifice at our hands. Their remians reside in The Holy Pot of Ash.
I also want to thank Michelle Watson for her friendship, support, council and inspiration. And acknowledge the work of John Crow and Crossbones Graveyard which are an obvious and profound influence on me - and on this Pilgrimage in particular.
Prometheans!
I’m pleased to share the full version of the first Pilgrimage!
I’ve left a big chunk of it open for public viewing.
My original intention was to keep most of it behind the paywall. But the slower pace of the edits, the extended script and the music - especially the music - bring it so much closer to the magical experience of the day. Its a different beast to the three minute edit I prepared for social media and which was shared (to paid subscribers) last week. It finally feels like I’ve done the day justice.
I know nobody has nine minutes to spend watching a video these days. But as this is fundamentally an ArtMagic project - and not simply an exercise in increasing our church’s social media reach - the video record of the pilgrimage needs to be what it needs to be. So no apologies.
News from The Vestry is absent, today. I have been a busy High Priest nonetheless.
To free subscribers and visitors: thanks for showing an interest. I really hope you enjoy the Ely video. If you want to support me, Church of Burn and the Pilgrimage then your subscription would be greatly appreciated.
To the Prometheans who already possess a AAA pass come on in….
